Re-metalization of Worn Mechanical Shafts
The re-metalization of shafts performed by CEAR technicians allows you to maintain the performance of your electric motor starting from the bearing housing, couplings or pulleys, mechanical seals, impeller or turbine housing, fans, and other essential parts of your motor. With our Castolin Castodyn DS 8000 equipment, replacing the shaft is no longer required; instead, we can economically re-metalize only the worn parts.
The re-metalization using thermal powder projection technology solves the problem of having to subject the shaft to a chroming process before subsequent grinding. Only the material deposition treatment is performed, in the form of powders sprayed: in this way, the particles in projection are subjected to instantaneous fusion. The raw deposit can be easily turned with a surface finish equivalent to grinding.
Depending on whether the thermal treatment may deform the shaft axis, the re-metalization operation can be performed with low or high thermal input.
The resulting final coating is of high quality, compactness, and adherence.
The CASTODYN DS 8000 metallization system can project any type of alloy resistant to wear, abrasion, corrosion, oxidation, high-pressure friction, as well as ceramic alloys. Additionally, it provides an excellent insulating barrier against the passage of parasitic currents (an increasingly common issue in AC motors powered by inverters).
